What are cookies?

Cookies consist of portions of code (computer files or partial data) sent by a server to the user's Internet browser, stored by that browser automatically on the user’s computer and automatically sent to the server at each occurrence or subsequent access to the site. A cookie usually contains the name of the website from which the cookie comes from, the life span of the cookie (that’s how long it will remain on the user’s device) and a value, which is usually a unique, randomly generated number. When the user returns the cookies are sent back to the website that created them (first-¬party cookies) or another site that recognises them (third¬-party cookies). Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise the user’s device and have different purposes such as, for example, allowing you to navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your favourite website and, in general, improving the browsing experience. They also help to ensure that the advertising content displayed online is more targeted to users and their interests.

If the user decides to disable cookies, this may affect and/or limit their browsing experience on the site. For example, they might not be able to visit certain sections of a site or may not receive personalised information when visiting the sites.

This Cookie Policy is intended to illustrate the types and categories of cookies, their scope and the methods for their use as employed by Fassi Gru S.p.A., the data controller, with offices in Bergamo, on via Roma 110. The policy also intends to provide information to users about the actions that can be taken to reject or delete the cookies on these sites (the “Sites”) and their subdomains: fassi.com, fassitech.com.

Fassi Gru S.p.A. informs users that, pursuant to and for the purposes of Art. 13 of Legislative Decree. N. 196/2003 (the “Decree”):

Consent to the use of cookies

Users can express their consent to the use of cookies by continuing to search through the site, or by performing an action such as scrolling or clicking on the internal links of the site’s pages the first time they access the website, as provisioned by the ruling of the Authority for the protection of personal data (n. 229 of May 8, 2014).

How do cookies work and how are they eliminated?

The operating modes and options to limit or block cookies can be adjusted by changing the settings on your Internet browser. The majority of Internet browsers are initially programmed to accept cookies automatically, but the user can change these settings to block cookies or to be alerted whenever cookies are sent to their device. There are several ways to manage cookies for this purpose, and it’s necessary to refer to the instruction manual or the help section of the browser to learn how to adjust or change the settings. The user is enabled, in fact, to change the default configuration and disable cookies (in other words, block them permanently), by setting a higher level of security.

Below is the path to follow in order to manage cookies through the following browsers:

Explorer: http://windows.microsoft.com/it-it/windows7/block-enable-or-allow-cookies
Safari: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11913
Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?hl=it-IT&hlrm=fr&hlrm=en
Firefox: http://support.mozilla.org/it-IT/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences

When different devices are used to view and access the sites (for example, computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.), the user must verify that each browser on each device is adjusted to reflect their cookie preferences. To remove cookies from the Internet browser of a smartphone / tablet, users should refer to the user manual of the device.

What types and categories of cookies does Fassi Gru S.p.A. use and for what purposes?

The sites use different types of cookies, each of which serves a specific function. Fassi Gru S.p.A. uses cookies to make the use of the site easier and to better tailor the site and its products to the interests and needs of users. Cookies can be used to speed up future experiences and user activities on the site. In addition, Fassi Gru S.p.A. uses cookies to compile anonymous aggregate statistics that allow the company to understand how users use the sites and to improve the structure and content of the sites.

Below is an explanatory list.

Technical cookies

“Technical” cookies are essential for the proper use of the sites and allow users to navigate the site and take advantage of its features (they allow previous actions to be memorised, or to save the user's session and/or to perform other activities strictly necessary for the operation of the sites).

“Analytical” cookies also belong to this category. These cookies help Fassi Gru S.p.A. understand how users interact with the websites, providing information on the last page viewed, the number of sections and pages viewed, time spent on the sites and each event that emerged while navigating, such as an error message, and help us to understand all the difficulties that the users encounter in the use of the sites. This information may be associated with user details such as the IP address, domain or browser; however, they are analysed along with other user information so they don’t identify a particular user. These cookies are collected and aggregated anonymously and help Fassi Gru S.p.A. improve the performance of the sites.

Finally, “functionality” cookies allow the sites to remember the user's choices (for example the user name or language) to provide them with a more customised and optimised navigation. While functional cookies are not essential to the operation of the sites, they improve the quality and experience of the navigation. If these cookies are not accepted, the site’s performance and features may be diminished and access to the contents of the sites may be limited.

Profiling cookies

“Targeting” or “profiling” cookies are used to present content that is more suited to users and their interests. They can be used to display targeted ads, to publish advertisements tailored to the user’s interests, or to limit the number of times the user views an advertisement. In addition, they help to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on the sites; Fassi Gru S.p.A. may use these cookies to remember the websites that the user visited and to share this information with third parties, who could use their cookies for collecting information on the activities carried out by the users on the websites.

“Sharing” cookies (social networking) are needed to allow the user to interact with the site through their social account and are used, for example, to express appreciation and to share it with their social contacts.

The Fassi Gru S.p.A. websites use or can use, also in combination between them, the following cookies:
• “session” cookies that are stored on the user’s computer for purely technical and functional requirements, for the transmission of session identifiers required to enable a safe and efficient site; they are deleted at the end of the “session” with the closing of the browser;
• “persistent” cookies that remain stored on the computer’s hard drive until they expire or are deleted by users. Through persistent cookies, users who access the site (or any other users who use the same computer) are automatically recognised at every visit.

Third party cookies
When a user uses the websites, it is possible that certain cookies are stored that are not controlled by Fassi Gru S.p.A. This happens, for example, if the user visits a page that contains content of a third-party website. As a result, the user will receive cookies from these third-party services. In terms of third-party cookies, Fassi Gru S.p.A. does not control the information provided by the cookie and does not have access to such data. This information is completely controlled by third-party companies as described in the relative privacy policy.

The table below lists the third-party cookies on the websites of Fassi Gru S.p.A. .
The latter fall under the direct and exclusive responsibility of the third-party operator and are divided into the following main categories:
• Analytics: cookies used to collect and analyse statistical information on access/visits to the website. In some cases, combined with other information such as the entered credentials for access to restricted areas (user email address and password), cookies can be used to profile the user (personal habits, websites visited, downloaded content, types of interactions carried out, etc.).
• Widgets. This category includes all the components of the graphic user interface of a program which aims to facilitate user interaction with the program itself (cookies from Facebook, Google+, Twitter are an example of widgets).
• Advertising. Cookies used to deliver advertising services within a site belong to this category.
If the user doesn’t want to receive third-party cookies on their device, they can use the links listed below to access third-party disclosure and forms and exclude the receipt.

These cookies are not controlled directly by Fassi Gru S.p.A. Therefore, in order to withdraw consent, it is necessary to refer to the website of the third parties or refer to the website www.youronlinechoices.com to obtain information on how to delete or manage cookies based on the browser being used and to manage preferences about third-party cookie profiling.
